MONSOONAL WAR BETWEEN THE SUN AND CLOUDS

When the night is gone What is ahead of us is a pleasant dawn When the sun peeps out of the backyard wall the Earth is brightened and darkness is gone.

Some clouds are playing hide & seek with the sun, But we still see it's Vigorous burn Now the sky is blue and clear there is no sign of the Raining - God The only one's the sun and it is the lord.

Again/evils come with a yell The sun's still sure to beat them and kick them back to hell the blacks have taken out their swords and want to capture the lord.

Sun then tells them "Oh I you foolish, I don't want any war. That's what I wish, Don't mess with me, I warn you If you do so I can even harm you."
Then there was the biggest war of the Universe, The Earth was watching, the sky viewed it The oceans vibed and everyone was hiding, Even the heavens were seeing their fighting.

Clouds surrounded the sun from all over, After some minutes the clouds began to crackle, Meanwhile began the shower

Everyone joyed and bath The blacks fought hard But could not resist Their watery blood was falling All over us. The clouds grew pale and now they were thirsty

They ran like coward from the battle field The sun was smiling and threw its golden shield.

It resumed it's job and kept shining till the time was over the sun turned red and then faded over,

After a sleep its back to its work since it was born, it is shining over-head It will carry doing it until it is dead.

MY RECIPE FOR HAPPY LIFE

Believe in your self,
But don't be over confident,
Be satisfied,
But know that you can always improve,
Give comfort and love to others,
and you will always receive the same in return.

JUST GO ON

Go on and open the door,
There's someone who's waiting for you outside.
Go on and open the door,
There's someone who's still on your side.
Go on and open the door,
There's someone who's still thinks that you are right.
Don't hesitate today my friend
Do it today so come on!
Leave behind what has happened before
Start a new tomorrow and just go on!
Go on and face the world
When the world does not want to see your face
Go on and don't hide.
The truth and tell everybody
That it's not a fake
Go on and open the door,
And say it all you have to say.
Go on and show the world
That you're not a traitor,
And also that you'll not be
silent any more, Go on and face him up,
Fight him up and throw him down.
Go on and make them up,
show them up and break the sound
And unfold the mystery in front of them.
And end it all by ending their game,
Because if you don't stand for yourself.
They-ll be many to stop you
And if you don't guard yourself.
They'll be many to ruin you.
So get this straight in your mind
See in your front-back & aside
You'll find they'll be many angles
They'll be fighting' up all the dangers
You are one of them.
You bold and hard
So go ahead don't loose your heart
You have to save the people
And that's for sure
Hard work it is and
Yes, it's much more
So get started just right now
And kill every evil somehow.
So catch hold of the evil to see
Whether he's a judge or a underworld don
Spread everywhere the hymn of Peace
And just go on ……………

SEASONS

In Summer I like to be cool,
Have an ice-cream and Jump in the pool,
In the rainy season. I like to dance,
With my lovely neighbour who is from France
In winter I shiver and go to the bed,
With my teddy bear whose name is Ted.
Spring is the season of joy,
With "Festival of colour" we all enjoy.

The sunlit Path

Deep in the dark woods
I walk
I stumble and fall.. and start again
Question arises in my heart.
Why do I stumble
Why do I fall
Why do I not rise high and walk in perfect
Harmony
And I see the sunlit path.
The path is lit.
By the rays of the golden light
The rest is dark
I walk again
On this path now
I realize my goal, cleared as I hear
I do not stumble
I do not fall
I walk in perfect harmony
Full of hope and bliss
I continue….
On the verge of my goal
Through the dark woods
On the sunlit path….

OUR VISION

I dreamed I stood in a studio, And watched two sculptors there. The day clay they used was a young Child's mind, And they fashioned it with care.

One was a teacher, The tools she used, Were books, music and art. The other a parent, Worked with a guiding hand, And a gentle loving heart.

Day after day, the teacher toiled with touch, That was cheerful, deft and sure. While the parent laboured by her side, And polished and smoothed it over.

And when at last their work was done, They were proud of what they had wrought. For the things they had moulded into the child, Could never be sold or bought.

And each agreed they would have failed, If each have worked alone. For behind the parent stood the school, And behind the teacher, the home.

SMILE A LITTLE

Smile a little, laugh a little,
Ha, Ha, Ha !
Say a little, Sing a Little
La, La, La
Hop a little, Sing a Little,

Run a little, skip a little,
Tap, tap one knee;
Bend a little, stretch a little
Nod your head;
Yawn a little, sleep a little,

CRICKET IS FUN

Cricket is fun,
When Dhoni is making a run.
Fun is cricket,
When Irfan is getting a wicket.
When Lara goes for a zero.
And Zaheer is made the hero.
When Donald is in a fix.
And Azhar strikes a Six.
When Rahul hits a four
And Hudson can do nothing to improve his score
When by Kaif the ball is caught
When Akram just sits there in throught
When Tendulkar is getting the Sharjah cup
If he has any wicket
So, in short cricket is fun
Only when India has won.

A smiles costs nothing but gives much.
It enriches those who give it
It takes but a moment, but
the memory of it sometimes last forever,
It can peak up the weary
Bring cheer to the discouraged

Yet it cannot be brought
Begged, borrowed or stolen,
for it is something that is
of no value to any one until
it is given away.

HONESTY

Honesty, where dost thou dwell
In the hearts of people, those hypocrites
Or in the innocents prison cells
Honesty, why are u sold
To fill the stomachs of the starving gentry,
Or to abtain more gold
Now brotherhood, where dost thou be
On agreements and papers with false fronts,
Or in hearts of which love's the keys
Oh, brotherhood why the wars
Why the Arson, the killing
A petty reason, the nations give
Jealously, it' s stomach filling
Why can't there be a better world,
Of honesty and love
That peace may reign supreme on earth
As in the home of God above.

BIRTH OF A GIRL

Why do people mourn,
When a girl is born.
After all she is a vital part of society.
She has also been created,
By God almighty,
In today's world
A woman is no less than a man
She can do everything that a man can
It is the girl who helps the mother
In tasks like cooking, washing and others.
It is said- without a woman
Man is incomplete
Therefore, for Adam, God sent Eve.
So, girls should not be considered a curse,
As they are a vital part of the universe.

God is a great examiner,
We all are students,
Our life is an answer book.
The world is an examination hall
We assemble here to sit
to take the examination,
the time is allowed is three hours.
The first hour bell
rings in childhood
the second in youth
the third is old age
the final bell is rung
by the messenger of God.
It signifies the land of examination
Our answer book is snatched away.
Life comes to an end,
Don't try to cheat
During the period of examination
You are being observed
Don't try to device
By writing useless stuff
You may loss marks
By writing nothing.
So write down what you know,
If you fall you have to reappear
Which repeats process of ordeal,
If you pass you attain salvation.

THE GARDEN

Life began in a garden.
With flowers red and blue,
With leaves that sighed their difference,
And trees that varied ; too
Each plant lends its own beauty.
Each Colours has its own shade.
Uniqueness was the glory
Of all that God has made
And sunlight woke the garden
From its silvery moonlight sleep.
Two different lamps of heaven.
With different times to keep
Spring rains prepared the garden,
For summers burst of bloom.
And fall became the instrument,
For winter's golden loom
Living in this garden,
Of which we are each a part,
We should be mindful of each difference
And keeps it in our heartsAntra, IV-BNATURE

With a lovely white dove.
She said - "Stay, I like you, you see".
But the dove replied, "Not me".
Mischief lit her little eyes.

They crept behind the bird with the net.
One had a cage which with golden bars were set.
She said to the bird hopping there.
"But my pet of you I'll take proper care.
"No doubt, while I'm shut in a golden cage"
It spread its wings and flew away,
oblivious of her rage.

THE OYSTER

There once was an oyster
Whose story I tell,
Who found
That some sand
Had got into his shell
It was only a grain,
But it gave him great pain
For crystals have feelings
Although they're so plain.
Now did he berate
The harsh working of fate
That had brought him
To such a deplorable state
Did he cry at the government for election.
And claim that the sea should have given him
protection.
No-he said to himself
As he lay in a shell,
Since I cannot remove it.
I shall try to improve it.
Now the year have rolled around, as the year
always do,
And he came to his ultimate
Destiny - stew And the small grain of sand
that had bothered him so was a beautiful pearl.
All richly aglow.
Now the tale has a moral
For is n't it grand
What an oyster can do
with a morsel of sand'.
What couldn't we do
if we'd only begin
with some of the things
That get under our kim.

Teacher - A Mirage

They claimed You can't
I Said can
They mocked I can't
They laughed and shouted you can't you can't,
I firmly replied I will………….
…………….and -
Today more than ever, there is a need to characterize responsibilities
from individual to universal. When we ask for freedom of speech & freedom of expression we automatically ask for responsibility. The capacity of rational conduct, however, should be there among nations and nations, humans and other forms of life and not only among human and other forms of life and not only among human and humans. If we dare to dream of a promising tomorrow we have to commit overselves towards a hope filled present. The need is to tame the winds in full flow, to divert the path of a roaring tide and to create a desire to accept challenges.
Creation of genesis of a thing leading to something useful. That useful can't be created as a result of fluke but from responsibility. In writing excellence can't come from just writing but writing for a cause, writing with commitment, writing with honesty and writing with purpose that is what will lead to the creations of excellence.
"Most people do not really want freedom because freedom involves responsibility and most people are frightened of responsibility."
o
Sigmund French The previous year I had projected my views about a teacher's reflection and received a words of appreciation. I am inspired to pen down my views an another shade of a teacher his/her 'mirage' - a deceptive truth.
Education is the most important national activity, the backbone of a country' progress. It is thus the most important constituent of a good citizenship. It helps to strengthen the very fabric of a nation " To produce men of education, enlightment and character" but the Irony is that the person on whose shoulders the future of a nation lies is scbduced and is struggling in the society for their own identity. Just few days back I was talking to some of the teachers were they admitted that teaching is a glamourless, thankless job and rightly so I too admit it. Ever since I became a teacher. I have been speaking more listening less, the whole attitude towards life has changed the understanding power has reduced and slowly and steadily I am being engulfed in the vicious circle of teaching.
If we teachers search our heart. We will find their still lies a burning desire which we either due to family, social, or any other pressure have suppressed.
The gist is we must come out of the mirage which is the self created and should develop a pragmatic point in our life.
Teachers are also creatures of flesh and bones, they have desires, they have expectations, they also want to love and be loved, go for long drives, get wet in the rain and do all sorts of things which every other individual does, but the dilemma is every time a different step is taken, the words echo "oh my God ! you are a teacher ?" I agree the teachers are ideals but then who is not ? Or is it that except teacher others are allowed to make mistake? We all know teachers share the responsibility of the nation, like everyone else, but some where deep inside they are killing there expectations, killing their and are afraid to come out of the Mirage and to have their own identity, laugh as they have never laughed, love as they have never been loved and live as if they were to die tomorrow.
'The fault lies not in our starts but in ourselves' let us join hands and add some salt and pepper to this profession, fill in Colours of different shades instead of black and white and then cherish each and every moment of our life.
All of you who sleep tonight
Far from the ones you love
No hand to left or right.
And emptiness above
Know that you are not alone
The whole world share your fears
Some for two nights or one.
And some for all their years.

TV MANIA

"Exams are compulsory in our life because they are Kasauti Zindagi Ki. A teacher may oppose it Kyunki teacher Bhi kabhi Sudent thi. There is nothing to worry because this is kahani School School Ki . There is a possibility that Kabhi Kisi Roz, these exams are banned any way all this depends on our Kundli. Yet after all these arguments, one questions remains in our mind. Koshish Ek Asha. The positive points of exams is that you are able to determine Kismay Kitna Hai Dham or kamzor Kadhi Kaun. Every one while sitting in the examinations hall things that Koi apna sa question comes in the exam paper. A person says Sh… Koi Hai if one cheats and suddenly hears the teacher's Kadam. After all, we should not have bad Karni. All times we forget to apply Lipstic, and to attend Kitty Party. We even don't take any saans while studying for exams. These exams really bring a heavy burden on our minds but still Kitne Cool Hai Hum. We all do Lot of cheating but it is okay because Hum Sab Ek Hain. Cheating is just a Shararat. We all have Choti si Asha to pass in exams. All these things should be managed by us without seeing Sonpari or Shaktimaan because in doing so you will be building Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka but we should never do Yatra in dreams and always believe in Haqeeqat I will not do any more Tu-Tu Main-Main and make more Khichdi in this topic.

BE WILLING TO BE A STUDENT - GET A MENTOR

If God and Teacher are standing together, who does the student first ? According to Indian Culture, the answer is the teacher, because without his direction and help, the student would not have met God.
A mentor or a teacher is a person whose hand sight can become your foresight. Look for some one who can accept you as a student. Show respect to your teacher and be an interested student. The best teacher's will not give you some think to drink, they will make your thirsty. They will put you on the path to seek answer.
Choose your mentor carefully. A good will guide and give direction. It is the teacher who makes the highest contribution in shaping the future of society.
As a teacher is our friend, philosopher and guide.

YOUR TRUE CREATIVE POWER-BELIEF

Most people never stop to question what they have been taught about life. It may not occur to us that our thoughts and beliefs about life and not necessarily the truth. We may never examine or challenge these beliefs because we so accustomed to what our lives have become that we don't look beyond our current perceptions. We accept what we have been taught as the one and only reality.
All too often we lives feeling trapped or stuck with unpleasant situations. We live with all kinds of circumstances that we wish we could change but we don't believe that we can or ever will change them. There is a powerful and creative force with in each of us. This creative power both visible and invisible. Whatever energy we send out into the world comes back to us. Therefore as we believe, we create. So always remember you won't always get what you desire, but you will always get what you believe…….!

IF 'TITANIC' WAS MADE IN INDIA

There would be 10 times as many people on the ship. There would be a song with Kate Winslet in a white dress singing in the rain. By the end of the movie the hero would have found his lost Mom, dad, sister and brother.
It would be 71/2 hour movie with three intervals. The movie would be called " PYAR KIYA TO MARNA KYA". The hero, heroine with their mom, dad, sister and brother would float in the cold water for days and yet survive.
The Villain would drawn in his first face into water. The Iceberg would be sent by the heroine's father to teach a lesson to the hero. The ship's Orchestra would play "Jai Santoshi Maa" and in case of a disaster a ray of light would come and transport the musicians to another ship.
And can you imagine how many times we would hear "BACHAOO!!!??" I shudder to think of this version of the Movie 'TITANIC'.

A GOOD STUDENT

Students are an important part of the population of any country. So students have a very important role to play in the progress of a country. A good student is really a wealth for the country and the country is proud of him.
The times that students spend in schools and colleges is the time of their character formation. Every educational institution aspires that their students would grow as good citizens of the nation, contributing their best of the growth of the nation. The question arises that who is a good student?
A good student is the one who first of all respects and obeys the rules and regulation of the school.
He is the one who does his or her duties towards the school with deep commitment and a sense of belongingness. There are many qualities in a student, which make him or her an ideal students. In my opinion an ideal student should posses the qualities such as discipline, punctuality, cleanliness etc.
A student must learn the importance of punctuality. He should reach the school in time.
Next he should be regular in attending classes. He should participate in all the extra curricular activities. Of course one can't expect that every individual excel equally in all the spheres of life. An ideal student should respect his teachers and elders. He must be disciplined so as to be systematic in his life. He should make use of his leisure hours by engaging in a hobby in which he is interested, instead of wasting his time. He should firmly believe in perseverance.
These are some of the good qualities of an ideal student, which every student must strain to attain. These bring the wholesome development of the personality of the student. It is only then ideal students of today would be an ideal citizen of tomorrow and lead the country to the path of progress and prosperity.

IS ADDICTION A FASHION

Just take a look around you and you'll find addication on the use. Addication of narcotus, alcohol, beverages, cigarettes, tobacco etc. It is making a prominent break through among the youth.
The causes are numerous. Some live under the illusion that addiction is a fashionable act and it apparently makes them look cool and happening.
Sadly, some fall prey to this monter due to their circumstances, loneliness, depression, insecurity, complexes and lack of love and care. It hurts my heart to see such victims.
Addiction not only ruins their lives it affects the entire community. We should live and let live. This is my sincere effort to bring forth dangerous consequences of addiction.
To those who think addiction of whatever kind is a coolway of living please stay out of it because your life is precious.

THE TEENAGE SOUL

Life is a teenager's world is a life of confusion. It seems as we know things happen but never why. We think that in this world we are superior and stronger than anyone else. We hate admitting our faults and hate it even more when we are checked for our mistakes.
We want to be treated like adults by friends, teachers and especially parents. But the truth is we still have the child inside us. This is the when we learn about love, hate and pain through life's toughest and trying experience. There's no one really to depend on in this life except for God and disappear at the time of need. You feel all alone and we think that we are the only ones going through life's pain.
Sometimes we feel rejected and very dejected. We try to show our anger by rebelling against teacher, parents and sometimes good friends too without any real cause. We try to stand alone thinking we're strong enough to take on the world and we need no one to tell us what to do and what not to do. But really comes down to is that all we are looking for is love and acceptance.
Love us and we are all yours !

LIFE OF A SCIENCE STUDENT

A Science Student has a toil hard for securing good marks. The life of a science students is full of care and worries. He can never enjoy school lifelike an art students. He cannot enjoy the sound sleep because WAVES in physics starts waving his mind, so he dozes while sitting in class. If unluckily he is noticed by the teacher, he becomes "Out standing" students of the class. The force of attraction attracts him towards his books, while the force repulsion always repulsion always repels him from even touching them. The working on balancing the equation disbalances his mind. Electric charges always discharge him. He is surrounded by the electric and Magnetic fields of hope for future and wish for fun. When he opens the chapter of chemical equilibrium the equilibrium of his mind is distributed.
While learning about tenses, thick lenses can be observed on his eyes. The most difficult task for a science student is to complete his practical files. So he chooses back benches for sitting in class in order to complete practical files, while dealing in Physics, Chemistry 7 Biology. He forgets History, Geography, English & Hindi so is usually punished for not completing his work in these subjects.
Just before the examination when lot of course remains, science teachers even snatch little bit of freedom. Games & Library periods compell him to study in a way that while his body is present in classroom, his mind is on vocation. At the time of examination he does as much as labour he can and does not find time even to take bath or meal.
In the examination hall, when he forgets any step his brain begins to quarrel with the heat of friction to remember, but usually fails, as the co-efficient of friction is quite high. His mind gets puzzled with lengthy sums of maths which have no specific head or tail.
How miserable is the lite of science student? So we pray 'God to lesson the burden of the coming generations.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY Again an epoch-making day arrived to acknowledge the caliber of the Budding Marshallites and to hounour their powers.
“The Discovery of the powers of the child is the most important discovery humanity has ever made and uncovers the very root of our life.” Every school has a council of staff and pupils which is used as a device to ensure the smooth running of the school and also to create an organization structure that would instill among the children the moral values, discipline and the sense of accountability. While ushering these privileges upon some students, we have the aim of changing their individual self into a personality. When you are an individual, you are genetically limited entity, confined to your own ambition, your own likes and dislikes, you own desires. But Personality is a richer word than individuality. An individual is like a billiard ball that collides with other billiard balls. But when you develop the capacity to enter the hearts of and to have others enter your heart, you become capable of working with teachers and students as a team. You learn to coordinate the work of others and even inspire them with your enchanting personality. Our Founder President Shri G.C. Juyal did the honour of glorifying our students with their respective designation. 1.) The girl Blue House Captain - Honey Arora 2.) The boy Blue House captain- Anurag Shukla 1.) Abhishek Dhayani IX- B Give people more than what they want & do it with all your heart. ‘Do not believe every thing you hear, do not spend all you have & do not sleep as long as you want. Always smile whenever you see yourself in the mirror. Speak slowly but think fast. “Remember that the ones bearing lone & the greatest achievement are the ones bearing the most risk. Love your country more than your life. Remember that sometimes under achievements are Good Luck. Judge your level of success from what you have to renounce to achieve it. The best relationship is one where the love for one another matters more than the need to be with each other. ‘Trust God but yourself too. ‘Whenever you say ‘ I love you’ mean it. Share your knowledge, it’s a way of achieving immortality. Read in between lines. If you happen to loose never miss the lesson. Lead a good & honest life. A SPEECH BY TARANJOT KAUR

DEOL ON 15TH AUGUST ‘05 iUnzg vxLr dk fnu] dgrk Esteemed Founder President, Vice President, Headmaster, teachers and friends, today we assemble here, each year but in an altogether different spirit. I wish to extend my heartiest greetings on the occasion of 59th Independence Day present. Freedom, yes Freedom from British rule was what we got on this day. Today we have wisely used that freedom. No doubt India has progressed in every sphere of life but in the widest of all these we have forgotten the essence of our country, that is the rich Indian heritage morals. Money, success and power is all what we seek today. I am reminded of a friend who did not know the difference between Independence day and Republic Day. She was always confused before attempting an essay whether the date was 15th January or 26th August. Well, do we know the meaning and significance of this red letter day, even today, I doubt, for it seems to most of us patriotic songs inspiring speeches and get sweets and then get half days holidays. Amusing though it may be but it is a reality. Celebrating Independence Day does not mean saluting the flag and singing the National Anthem on the 15th of August and then forgetting all about our country till the next Independence Day. Instead, Independence Day remind us of our duties that we have towards India. As Marshallites, as Indians and foremost as humans. Every person has been created for a purpose and each one of us has the ability to do what we wish to, so let us put that ability into a combined effort and reform our country. Even if we have not done a single duty. It’s never too late. Why not begin from today? From now ? We don’t have to go about raising slogans or sacrificing lives for our country. We can begin right away by realizing that every good deed goes a long way and drop by drop makes an ocean. We can begin by not hireowing anything on the roads, school and public places, however dirty they may be, by not making fun of others, by offering a helping hand to people around us and making others happy, by being polite and offering a word of thank wherever needed. Today we must make a firm resolve to do our duty to the best of our ability. So let us pledge together to build a wonderful India, an India without sorrows, corruption and thoughts of disintegration. But India of good humans and ‘A United India’. As Dr. P.C. Alexander has aptly remarked. “A man called Gandhi invented India. A man called Nehru discovered India. Their followers dissapropriated India. Let us combine today and reappropriate”. JAI HIND !!!

IMPORTANCE OF YOGA IN TODAY’S LIFE

Man has made tremendous progress in almost every walk of life. Modern scientist and researches have absolutely changed our life style. Science has been incessantly pouring on us new materials to make our physical life more easy and comfortable. However, pollution of air, water, body and mind is also the result of science. Signs of restlessness are apparently visible in the day and dull eyes of our young generation. Today we can claim that we are modern and civilized but cannot claim that we are genuinely happy Human values are declining. Competition and commotion have made us suffer from stress and strain. Mental tension and strain produces undesirable consequences. They are also the causes of psychological as well as physical diseases such as diabetes, cancer, acidity, ulcer, and migrane and hypertension. How can we prevent ourselves from strain and stress? Should we discard science and scientific inventions? Should we return to the cave life and live as the Aborigines lived? As a matter of fact, to do this is neither practical nor physical as well as psychological ailments. Yoga changes for good man’s view on and attitude to life. The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘Yug’ meaning to bind the yoke. It is the true union of our will, with the will of God. Our ancient sages have suggested eight stages of yoga, to secure purity of body:- 1. Yama (social discipline) 2. Nayama (individual discipline) 3. Asana (postures) 4. Pranayama (breath control) 5. Pratyatara (discipline of the senses) 6. Dharana (concentration) 7. Dhayana (Meditation) 8. Samadhi (self-realisation) By Pritika Bisht, VIII-B

WHY IS THE TOWER OF PISA LEANING?

Everybody knows that in the city of Pisa in Italy. There is a beautiful tower that ‘leans’. Very few people know the reason of its leaning. It is made of white marble. The walls are four meters Thick at its base. It has eight storeys & is 55mts (181ft) high. There is a stairway, which leads to the top and has 300 steps Now the question arises What makes this tower lean? Why does it not fall? At the top, the towers is five meters away. From its perpendicular i.e. it leans over by 5mts (17ft). If we drop a ball from its top it would hit 5mts away from its base. When the construction of the tower was started in 1774, nobody thought it would lean. The foundations of the tower were laid in sand this may explain why it leans. Since it started leaning, the plans of its constructions were modified. During the last hundred years it had leaned another 30cms. According to a science, anything will remain stable till the vertical line drawn from its center of gravity Passes through its bas. Till today the vertical line from the gravity has been Falling within the base of the tower, that is why it has not fallen. According to some engineers the lower will definitely fall some day. SELF-RELIANCE

Self-reliance or self-help is a must to achieve success, happiness and progress. It is of no use to expect help from others. The saying “God helps those who help themselves” very beautifully and remarkably underlines the truth. Only the weak and helpless call on Gods for help instead of putting their own hands, power and strength they depend on good luck and grace of Gods. Man is his own friend or foe. It is he himself who can make or mar his fortune. One is what one chooses to be. Lord Buddha taught man to be one’s own lamp and light and not to depend on borrowed light. Shelly the great English poet once enough to reach the skies, if they should only put them out. A self-reliant person depends on his own brains, power, capacity, resources and prudence. Therefore he is master of his fate & fortune. Vini Negi, IX-B

FOR IT WILL BECOME YOUR DESTINY

‘Watch your thoughts; they become your words. Watch your words; they become your actions. Watch your actions; they become your habits. Watch your habits; they become your character. Watch your character, Manners and etiquettes play a great role in winning us the hearts, good will, admiration and esteem of others. They add greatness to your personality. They infuse grace and charm into what ever we say or do. It is necessary to watch over our words. We are often judged by what we say. Choice of words is of utmost importance. It is necessary to avoid the use of slang, high sounding and abusive words. Usually certain gestures create a bad impression. Courteous gestures add charm to the words. Our way of behavior influence others they form an opinion about us. It is difficult to change an opinion once formed. Hence it is necessary to ensure that the opinion is a good one. This is possible only by acquiring and cultivating good manners. Success or failure in life depends much on the influence we have on others. Good manners we possess can create a great influence on others. Hence it is very important that we train overselves to speak and according to the accepted and established norm. As it is aptly said by Theodore Roosevelt- “A sound body is a first class thing; A sound mind is an even better thing; But the thing that counts for most In the individual as in the nation Is character, the sum of those qualities? Which make a man a good man and A woman a good woman. Arjun Sharma, VIII-B.

THE SECRET OF SUCCESS

Success is indeed a sweet word. Everybody wants it. But the thing that counts for granted. Parents want their children should be successful in life and they spend a lot of money and do whatever they legitimately can to assist them in achieving their aims. Still everyone is not successful in their life. Then is success dependent on dame luck? One can say that in certain chance does play its part. This is however not true in all cases. If we study the lives of successful men carefully, we realize that such men have worked very hard at one time or the other in their lives even more hard work is not enough unless this hard work is done in a systematic and well-planned manner. So proper planning and thoughtful arrangement of material are essential to be successful in a venture, may be an examination an interview or any other activity. To this, must be added proper guidance, which can be provided only by a only qualified and experienced person. A raw hand in any venture will first come as a cropper. We should not use shortcut methods to get success of course; we should not deny that corruption and malpractices do exist on a large scale. But at the same time, we must remember the hard work is the key to success and the merits of really competent, intelligent and hard working person have to be recognized at last. Avantika Gupta, VIII-B

HONOUR THY HANDS

Man is the only creation which has hands that can work constructively. Although some are lazy and do not use their hands, there are many who do. Man must make the best use of time and work hard. These are times that he may feel that he is going to face failure but he must not lose heart and must keep on going. If he considers that “Work is worship” he will easily reach the heights the fame. The fruits of hard work are always sweet. Despite all the progress attributed to modern technology, the best open secret of success is non other than the old fashioned “Good old hard work” This formula works and works very well too in every age. There are few qualities that go hand in hand with hard work. They are careful planning, honesty, regularity and patience. Finally, I would like to add, that hands not only should work to improve the quality of life but also they should involve themselves in acts of kindness. Shivani Sharma, IX-B

A TRIBUTE TO MOTHERLAND

It is pure grace in the mother’s mind, which is instinctive and never artificial that makes her divine. The man has to move heaven and earth to achieve this divine Character. A woman will not forsake her child whatever the other attractions and inducements she is offered in her life. It is this natural grace of motherhood in a woman that finds mention in Sahasranama (thousands name of Devi) as Sri Mata. In the stories of Devi in any Indian language-she is called simply mother. Other attributes adorn her only extolling this aspect of motherland Even the awakening in the minds of masses of India for attaining Independence was made in the name of Bharat Mata. It is found in our Shastras and Puranas that who ever disgraces a woman falls irretrievably from grace of the lord and loses all prosperity in the world and in the other Woman must keep this truth in their minds and make their lives worthy of this great honour and be blessed of divine grace. EDUCATION IS A RESERVOIR

Positive thinkers are like athletes, who through practice, build an inner reservoir of stamina that they draw on in competition. It they don’t practice, they have nothing to draw on. Similarly positive thinkers regularly build a reserve of positive attitude by constantly feeding their mind on the pure, powerful and positive thoughts on daily basis. They realise that we are all going to be faced with the negative aspects and if we have the reserve of positive attitude we will prevail. Positive thinkers are not fools and they are not going through life with blinders. They are winners who recognize their limitations, but focus on their strengths. Divya Preet Kaur IX-C

MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD

Most people want to feel that they have some positive impact on the lives of others. You wish to make a difference in the world… but isn’t that beyond your reach ? Is our planet so small that any single influence can have much impact on it ? Influences have a way of spreading like ripples on a pond- If an idea can change not only people’s minds, but also inspire them sufficiently to change the very way they live, it will have that ripple effect. Alexander the Great didn’t do it, Buddha did. The change must come from within, from the heights of inner being. It cannot come from emotion, opinion, not even from sincerely held belief. How many public figures declaim on behalf of good causes; yet how many of them significantly change anything ? Think of the fad that are embraced by millions that fade into non-existence like wave on the ocean that rise, then fade back tracelessely into the vast body of water from which they rose. To make a significant differences, we must realise that it isn’t we, individually, who can make the difference. Truth is what always wins in the end. There is the story of Billy Sunday, the evangelist. When he died, he appeared before the gates of heaven, but St. Peter told him he couldn’t come in since the evangelists’s name was not in the record of goods deeds. “But what about all those people I converted”, exclaimed Billy Sunday “and sent to heaven ?” “You may have sent them.” St. Peter replied, “but none have ever arrived”. - Manas Mamgain, X-B Akbar once exclaimed to his chief musician Tansen, “No one any where sings well as you do”. Tansen replied, “Your majesty, there is one far greater than I. My teacher”. For a long time, Akbar dismissed this answer, thinking it merely an expression of humility. After some time, however, he asked Tansen to let him hear his teacher sing. “He would never agree to come to your court, your majesty”. Tansen replied - “To hear him, I must take you to him - Nor will he sing”, he continued, “If he recognizes you as the emperor. You must go disguised as a common man”. The emperor agreed to go in disguise with his musician. The teacher - through glad to see his pupil again - refused to sing for his supposed friend. Finally, Tansen tricked him by singing a melody he’d learned in his students days, deliberately making a Mistake in what he’d learned. At this point what could the teacher do but correct his pupil ? He sang the melody as it should have been sung. The emperor was astounded. When they left, he exclaimed, “ You where right ! I never imagined a human being could sing with such a heavenly voice. How is it that you, whose singing seems humanly perfect, haven’t the power to perform with such sublimity ?” “Your Majesty”, to please you, but my teacher sings only to please God”. To make a difference in the world we should serve no one but truth and God-Anything less will be but a wave - It may rise for a time, but very soon it will sink again and be forgotten. - By Swami Kriyananda

PRIDE

……..And some of the loneliest moments in life are when we had someone sitting next to us. I sat numb as I summoned up my life in these words. I put down my pen and walked out of my home. Even as I stepped out. I could feel the pain in my stomach. Nothing did I found more blissful than a silent walk, hand in hand with my loneliness cursing as to why I became a teacher I. Walked through the icy wind, hands buried deep in my pockets, talking to myself cursing the profession I had choosen. I was sad as I had nothing to boost in my life, no money, no charm, no assets, nothing. Continuing with a thankless job of a teacher, I was sad and down trodden, So much so that I could no one in the crowded road to console me. My feet heeded no direction. They were well mastered to question the way. I shared into the misty air, looking at a face that wasn’t there. My legs started moving faster. I stretched my hand to summon the face but instead my hand struck an old. dilapidated gates. I suddenly came back to my senses as I recognized the gate that had become the part of my life. I opened it quietly. As I walked inside towards the auditorium, the dew on the grass wiped my shoes as it cleans the dirt of the world. I had walked along. I pushed the door of the auditorium, the silence was broken by a loud noise, the dullness was taken over by flashing of lights. “Happy Birthday Sir” the whole atmosphere echoed, I smiled with tears in my eyes. I looked at the faces of those who were chanting, they were my students - My real assets - MY PRIDE - Amit Joshi (PGT, Economic)

THE AGONY OF THE DESERT

Emptiness, vastnerss, solitude are what describe it. Some may think the desert misses the rain but I wonder if one can miss something, one has never known at all. The desert’s vast, open and lonely stretches are like life. One travels alone for miles and miles, hungry, thirsty, tired and longing for a precious water drop an the blessed company of anyone who is willing to hold hands. The mind becomes one vast, transparent eye desperately seeking the freshness and the green wet spaces that exit beyond this ocean of sand but the faltering feet and outstretched arms never seem to reach it. When hope is beyond hoping for, in this loneliness is seen a tiny bud on a thorny cactus. What a revivel of lost hope this forshaken bud can be ! What a joyous promise of going on till a joint hope turns into a reality ! The wheels of time move on changing life’s seasons. As a band of traveler and gives him help and shelter so too friends are those without whom life’s journey would be unfinished. Their encouragement, love and care are the balm that soothes our brokenness and keep us going. The agony of desert is great indeed but greater is its charm and magnificence, its hidden beauty. So, each one travels his miles on this desert and only God knows what he will encounter and when he will reach the green pastures and still water but on the timeless sand are left his footprints……….! - Aastha Dev, IX-B
