FR MARSHALL ALL INDIA INTER SCHOOL ENGLISH DEBATE COMPETITION OCTOBER 2009.

The Annual FR Marshall Debate is held in the memory of the late Mr. FR Marshall a dedicated educationist. He served the school for years and contributed immensely towards the growth of the school in its nascent years. The English debate was held on 10th October 2009. The preposition was ‘Resolved in the opinion of the house that making class X Board Examination optional is a grave mistake which will throw the entire education system in utter confusion and disorder hence it must be rejected’. The judges for the occasion were Miss Rita Singh from Cambrian Hall, Dehra Dun, Mrs. S . Singh from the St. Joseph College for Bed Education, Dehra Dun and Lt. Colonel Shivendra Roy of the Indian Army.. Twenty Five Schools comprising Convent of Jesus & Merry, St. Joseph Academy, St. Thomas College, St. Jude’s School, North Point School, Mussorie International School, Mussorie Public School from Mussorie , Rishikesh Public School from Rishikesh, Summer Valley School, All Saint’s Convent School from Nainital, Guru Nanak Fifth Centenery Boys and Girls, Ann Mary, Dehra Dun Carman School, Premnagar offered stiff competition to the host school . The speakers dazzled the audience with their fiery arguments and wit.

Marshall School was represented by Nancy Sharma and Akansha Saini. In the end, it was a close call. The School team narrowly lost to Convent of Jesus and Mary for the second place. The winning team was St. Joseph Academy and runners up team was Convent of Jesus and Mary. The performance of all the students was lauded by one and all. The judges in their speeches congratulated the students for their impressive performance and motivated them to keep their high spirits. The Chief Guest for the occasion, Mr GC Juyal, Founder & President, Marshall School spoke at length on the topic for the debate and the prevailing education system in India and abroad. Later, the chief guest awarded the winners, runners up and participating students from different schools. Mr Rajnish Jayal, Vice Principal delivered the vote of thanks to conclude the debate.

Independence Day Celebrations

On 15 August 2009 , the School organized the 63’rd Independence Day celebrations at Marshall School, Junior section Sports Field. School Children in large numbers turned up to attend the Independence Day Programme celebrations. A number of skits, speeches, dances and PT Display were organized on this occasion . School children -Boys and Girls in their whites gave salute to Shri GC Juyal, Founder & President , Marshall School, Dehra Dun, who unfurled the national flag followed by the national anthem. A number of cultural dances and mass PT display were organized. School children from the junior and senior section read Speeches in English and Hindi elaborating about the Indian Freedom struggle.

Marshall School Annual Sport’s Day

The 42’nd Annual Sports Day was no ordinary sporting event. On 25 October 2009 Marshall School celebrated its 42’nd Annual Sports Day at Jogiwala Sports Complex. The athletics meet began with an opening march past by the four houses- the Ashoka House, Pratap House, Shivaji House and house. School Children in White Dress presented the Salute to Mr. GC Juyal, Founder & President, Marshall School, Dehra Dun. After the opening March Past, the Annual Sports Meet was formally declared open.

The annual sports meet included welcome PT Display by the KG Class, Yoga by Class V and VI, a large number of races over various distance for the Senior Students and some fun races for the juniors such as orange race, potato race, three legged race, balancing the ball race, get ready for the school and Cindrella race. Relay races and cycle race filled the audience with tension and anxiety which was freed only when the winners reached the finishing line. After the completion of competitive events, the brass band of 5/1 GR put up a very impressive band display, playing some melodious tunes. Shivaji House (Green) won the overall championship winner trophy, whereas Ashoka House(Blue) won the overall championship runners up trophy. Mayank Thapa and Riya Chand were declared as the best boy and girl athelete from Junior School. Abhishek Uniyal and Pritka Bisht were adjudged the best Boy and Girl Athelete from Senior School.

The meet concluded with the salute being given to Major General BC Khanduri(Retd), AVSM, ex Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, who graced the occasion as chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, General Khanduri, appreciated the perfect coordination and clockwise precision of the students. He was sure that the students of Marshall School would keep up the rich traditions and culture of India. The Founder & President, Mr GC Juyal congratulated the students for all their efforts and encouraged them to strive for the best. The vote of thanks was presented by Mr Rajnish Jayal, Vice Principal, Marshall School, Dehra Dun.

 


Children’s Day Celebrations

A grand fete was organized in the Junior and Senior branches of Marshall School on the occasion of Children’s Day. A number of games and lucky draws were also organized for the school children. School children joined in large numbers at the food stalls put up by the school teachers. Finally, school children tapped their feet over the music played by the DJ .Mr. Rajnish Jayal, Vice Principal , Mr Ratnish Jayal, Admission Officer and Mr RP Kukreti, Headmaster took the round of the fete and participated in the games organized by the school.

Republic Day Celebrations

On 26th January,2010, Marshall School celebrated India’s 61’st Republic Day at Marshall School, Junior Section Sports Field. School children in whites presented the salute to Mr GC Juyal, Founder& President Marshall School, Dehra Dun. The national flag was unfurled by Shri GC Juyal, along with the Headmaster, Mr RP Kukreti , Mrs Jyoti Oli, Co-ordinater and Mr Rajnish Jayal, Vice Principal. Followed by the national anthem. A number of songs in Hindi and English with national fervour were sung by the school children The assembled school children and teachers took keen interest in the speeches read by the junior and senior school children. Finally, the key note address was given by Mr GC Juyal, Founder &President. He elaborated in detail about the prevailing education system, economic problems, national security in India. He called upon the school children to follow the path shown by India’s Freedom Fighters- Subhash Chandra Bose and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The vote of thanks was given by Mr Rajnish Jayal, Vice Principal, Marshall School. On the occasion of Republic Day sweets were distributed to all the assembled children and teachers.
